Topping the list of celebrities that most of us love to hate (or hate to love) is Victoria Beckham. With no discernable talent other than her willingness to wear thigh-baring skirts and her ironclad food-refusing willpower, Mrs. Becks is one of those celebrities who seem to be famous for being famous. Unimpressive singing aside, Posh’s personal life has had people hating her long before it was cool to hate her. She’s ultra-skinny, sports a big fake tan and a pair of big fake boobs, and took one of the world’s sexiest and most eligible bachelors off the market. It’s no wonder that women everywhere have begun to sneer at the merest mention of Victoria “Don’t Call Me Vicky” Beckham. But is this derision earned, or is it the result of nothing more than simple jealousy? This woman who is no more talented than the local grocery store clerk has managed to make a fortune, marry a gorgeous wealthy athlete, have an enviable family, and live a glamorous life. Who wouldn’t be jealous of that? I have to admit that I was once a sworn Posh-hater. But after reading interviews with her where she plainly accuses herself of being talentless and boring, I started to warm up to her. After hearing her repeatedly say the most blunt and offensive things about herself and her personal life with no hint of embarrassment or regret, I had no choice but to admire her candor and honesty. Victoria Beckham may not be able to carry a tune in a steel bucket, but she has what the old-timers would call “moxie.” And she has it by the bucketful.
