Victoria Beckham officially became a Spice Girl in 1994 along with Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton. The all-girl ‘girl power’ promoting pop group released their first single ‘Wannabe’ and the single hit number one spots in the charts in both the US and the UK. Victoria Beckham was known as ‘Posh Spice’ and the name fit her stylish, sophisticated and sexy personality. The Spice Girls had eight number one singles following ‘Wannabe’. However, after three albums the group stopped recording and Victoria started up a solo career. On August 14th 2000 Victoria’s first single ‘Out of Your Mind’ was released and hit number two on the charts. Following the release Victoria signed a deal with The Spice Girls former label Virgin Records. Her album titled ‘Victoria Beckham’ was released on October 1st 2001. After a brief stint at Virgin Records that didn’t yield much in the way of successful results Victoria signed with Telstar Records in 2002. Beckham experimented with different musical ideas, including a hip hop influenced urban sound. However, she did not gain much success from this venture and decided to concentrate on bringing up her young family. In 2007 Beckham and the rest of The Spice Girls got back together for a reunion tour and the release of a documentary DVD. The Spice Girls greatest hits album was released in November to coincide with their reunion tour.
