While Victoria Beckham was part of the highly successful pop sensation the Spice Girls, following the breakup of the band she decided to go solo and has had a successful solo singing career since then.

Victoria Beckham released her first solo single in August 2000, titled “Out Of Your Mind”. The work was released in partnership with the garage act, the Truesteppers and Dane Bowers. The release had a large-scale publicity campaign behind it, which resulted in the album debuting at number two. “Out Of Your Mind” had first week sales of 180,584 copies and was outsold by nearly 20,000 copies.

Following the success of this, Victoria Beckham signed a recording agreement with the label Virgin Records. Then followed her actual debut as a solo artist, without any partnerships – “Not Such An Innocent Girl”, which was released in September 2001. However, fame eluded her with this release as she competed with Kylie Minogue’s hugely successful number “Can’t Get you Out of my Head”.

Victoria’s second and final single to be released was “A Mind of Its Own”. Again, this number failed to reach the top three in charts and reached only number six in the UK. It sold 56,500 copies. It was around this time that rumors spread regarding the dropping of Victoria Beckham by Virgin Records for failing to reach the top three. These were, however, soon put to rest.

Victoria Beckham has recently announced that she will soon be releasing her second studio album “My Love Is For Real” in 2008, with the first single slated for release in January 2008.
